Description

For the installation, we used full length Dinesen fir seamlessly stretching from one side of the room to the other. We used natural, penetrating oils to achieve the whitewash look.

Hardwax oil products are made of natural plant oils and waxes. They do not contain any VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds). The carefully composed mixture allows the oils to penetrate deep into the wood, without blocking the pores. This allows the wood to keep breathing and the wood retains its natural structure and color because no top layer is formed. We use UV curing system that helps the finish to dry faster and increases durability.

Natural oils create a warm, natural appearance and enhance the character of the wood specie. Since the oil penetrates into the wood, compared to the conventional methods (urethane finish), it does not leave any trace marks, bubbles, dust or dirt. When applying a hardwax oil one essentially polishes the surface of the hardwood rather than simply adding a layer on the top.

The penetration of hardwax oil into the open cell structure of the wood allows the floor to breath, thus releasing moisture and creating a much healthier environment. Also, the breathing provides more stability and decreases the likelihood of moisture related issues.

Another benefit of hardwax oil finishes is the idea of maintainability. Since hardwax oil penetrates into the wood, no top layer is formed. This makes it possible to perform spot-repairs for scratches, dents, revolving door marks, high traffic areas, etc. Depending on the level of wear and tear, it is recommended that hardwax oil finished floors be maintained every 12 – 18 months.

When applying maintenance oils every 12 – 18 months, it is possible to retain the initial look of the floors for a perpetuity.
